Eutelsat Teams Up with OneWeb and Station Satcom to Boost Maritime Internet

Eutelsat Expands Maritime Coverage Through OneWeb Partnership with Station Satcom

Eutelsat Group, the world’s first integrated GEO-LEO satellite operator, has announced a strategic partnership expansion with India-based maritime communications leader Station Satcom to deliver Eutelsat’s OneWeb low-earth-orbit (LEO) connectivity services to the global maritime sector. The agreement, signed on July 30, 2025, marks a significant step in enhancing high-speed, low-latency internet access for vessels worldwide.

A Hybrid Connectivity Solution

Station Satcom, a long-standing partner of Eutelsat, will integrate One Web’s LEO capabilities into its existing portfolio, which already leverages Eutelsat’s geostationary (GEO) satellite services. This hybrid solution combines the extensive coverage and reliability of GEO satellites with the high-speed, low-latency performance of One Web’s LEO constellation, consisting of over 600 satellites. The result is seamless connectivity for vessels operating along major shipping routes and in remote offshore environments.

The partnership addresses the maritime industries’ growing demand for real-time data, operational efficiency, and enhanced crew welfare. Station Satcom, which supports over 6,000 vessels across 25 regions, will use this technology to enable next-generation maritime applications, from smart shipping to digital transformation initiatives.

Industry Impact and Leadership Perspectives

“This is a game-changer for the maritime sector at large,” said Anshul Khanna, CEO of Station Satcom. “By integrating One Web’s LEO satellite service, we can now offer seamless connectivity for ship owners, crew welfare, and offshore operations.” The hybrid solution ensures uninterrupted broadband, supporting critical operations and improving quality of life for crews at sea.

Thierry Polycarpe, Vice President of Global Maritime at Eutelsat, added, “We are proud to expand our long-standing partnership with Station Satcom as they bring One Web’s LEO maritime service to market. This agreement reflects the growing demand for high-performance connectivity at sea and reinforces our commitment to delivering secure, high-speed, low-latency solutions that power the digital evolution of the maritime industry.”

Strategic Context and Market Reach

Station Satcom’s expertise in maritime communications, combined with its role as a reseller for multiple satellite operators, including Starlink, positions it to capitalize on this partnership. The company’s ability to offer multi-orbit solutions strengthens its competitive edge in a market increasingly reliant on robust connectivity. Eutelsat’s OneWeb services also complement its GEO offerings, creating a versatile platform for global maritime clients.

Eutelsat Group, formed through the 2023 merger with OneWeb, operates a fleet of 34 GEO satellites alongside its LEO constellation. This unique infrastructure supports four key verticals: video, mobile connectivity, fixed connectivity, and government services, addressing the needs of customers worldwide. The partnership with Station Satcom underscores Eutelsat’s leadership in delivering integrated satellite solutions.

Looking Ahead

As global shipping embraces digitalization, the Eutelsat-Station Satcom partnership is poised to set a new standard for maritime connectivity. By blending GEO and LEO technologies, the collaboration ensures vessels remain connected, efficient, and competitive in an increasingly data-driven industry. With One Web’s LEO services now enhancing Station Satcom’s offerings, the maritime sector is entering a new era of smart, connected operations.
